I’m an artist from Barcelona, and painting is what gives meaning to my life. I develop several series of paintings that are a search for my own inner balance. They are works with few elements, usually monochrome, in which concepts such as distance, silence and loneliness are present.
Majority of my series of works takes the seascape as a reference. Open, distant, calm spaces, in which the horizon is the essential element. A horizon that is the centre of attention, and that symbolizes the stillness. I usually work with acrylic on linen fabric, but I’m currently working on other techniques and looking for new textures, which has led me to develop the lasts series on handmade paper. In these last paintings the concept has evolved, and I develop the idea of the path that leads to the inner balance. These works should be read from left to right. Its structures, sloping lines and broken horizons are a descent and advance towards the calm that can be seen beyond.
Artistically speaking, I have not identified a single person who has decisively influenced me. However, there are several artists with whom I have felt a special connection with their work, such as Sean Scully, Fabienne Verdier, Mirco Marchelli or Hiroshi Sugimoto.
In the works of these artists I find some of the concepts that motivate my own work, and they have made me reflect on aspects such as the configuration of the work or the rhythm and vibration of the colours, which have evolved my paintings.
I have a phrase that is not exactly a Life Motto, but I do think it defines my work in a few words:
“I look inside and see depth, I look outside and see the inner essence”
